Summary

The Triforce was created after the Goddesses finished creating the world. It is said that they left it in the place where they departed the world, which later became known as the Sacred Realm.

The Triforce is the ultimate force behind all things. It is capable of granting the wish of those who lay hands on it, but only the first person to touch it will have their wish granted; it is said that their wish will hold true until the user dies. The three triangles of the Force, which represent wisdom, courage, and power, have at times been split into pieces and scattered for fear of misuse.

The Triforce does not discriminate between good and evil desires, but a balance of power, wisdom, and courage is required to unlock its full force, and one must demonstrate these qualities through sacred trials. If someone unworthy touches it, the three parts will separate, with only the piece best representing the one who touched it remaining.

The remaining two pieces will reside in those chosen by the goddesses, and a triangular mark will appear on the back of their hand. To obtain its true power, one must acquire all three pieces of the Triforce. As the separate pieces of the Triforce draw near each other, they will resonate as they try to become one. The battle over the Triforce has been waged since its creation, and shall continue without end for all eternity[1].

Oral Version

Before time began, before spirits and life existed... Three golden goddesses descended upon the chaos that was Hyrule... Din, the goddess of power... Nayru, the goddess of wisdom... Farore, the goddess of courage.... Din...With her strong flaming arms, she cultivated the land and created the red earth. Nayru... Poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit of law to the world. Farore...With her rich soul, produced all life forms who would uphold the law. The three great goddesses, their labors completed, departed for the heavens. And golden sacred triangles remained at the point where the goddess left the world. Since then, the sacred triangles have become the basis of our world’s providence. And, the resting place of the triangles has become the Sacred Realm[2].

The Goddesses' Version

Translation Source: Lorulean Historian

Before the creation of this world’s heaven and earth, there was nothing but the Still World.

Sometimes, something would take shape in this Still World, but it would quickly be consumed by the entity that dwelt there.

The name of this entity is… Null…

It hungered indiscriminately for life and enjoyed the world for only itself.

We could not abide its greed, and so we contained Null with the creation of heaven and earth.

But Null continually produced rifts in the world we had made, hoping to return it to nothing.

In order to mend these rifts, we brought forth the Tris to maintain the world’s balance.

Null's Version

A long, long, really long time ago… Null drifted in the Still World.

A pleasant world only for Null. There was nothing else except for Null in the world.

But…

The three goddesses usurped Null’s pleasant world and created THEIR world.

No matter how often Null tried to destroy the world, the servants of the Goddesses would always undo it all.

But with this power… I can make it all go away…

I can return this world to nothing… to the world Null desires…
