――ストーリーとしては、久々に“大いなる力”という名前でトライフォースが登場しました。最近の『ゼルダの伝説』シリーズではトライフォースの登場頻度にだいぶ希少性が出てきているのですが、開発スタッフのあいだでも、触れてはいけない“大いなる力”のような存在になっているのでしょうか？
青沼: 今回、「トライフォースを出す」と言ったのは僕です。
寺田: 必要になったからですよね。もう、物語的にトライフォース出すしかないと。
青沼: 先ほど触れたリンクが話せないという点も、昔からあるトライフォースを巡る、ゼルダとリンク、ガノンの関係性みたいなものがベースになっていないと、成立しないわけです。これはもうトライフォースを手に入れることに集約していく物語で終わるしかないよね、という話になりました。ただ、「トライフォースを巡る物語」と言ってしまうと、いままで描いてきたトライフォースのイメージが強すぎるので、そこでのストーリーと同じ流れを想像されてしまう懸念がありました。
そこで、舞台となる時代はあえてぼかして、王族や王様もみんながトライフォースを知っているという状態ではなく、トライフォースという名前がもう忘れ去られ、“大いなる力”というものがこの世界で眠っているという、漠然とした伝承しか残っていない時代を舞台にしたほうが、冒険のイメージをもっと膨らませられるだろうな、と。だから、ゲームではあえてトライフォースと書かないで、物語を作りました。まあでもね、誰が見てもトライフォースだろうという形で、バーンと出てきますけど（笑）。でも、それを見たときに「やっぱり！」と、思ってくれればいいかなと。
――なるほど。シリーズファン的には、今回トライフォースが出たところで「トライフォース出た！」という喜びがありましたが、お話を聞いていると、まんまと手のひらで踊らされた気がします（笑）。
青沼: いやいや、ある意味、僕らも手のひらの上で踊らされているんです。
――トライフォースに。
青沼: そうそう、何か“大いなる力”に（笑）。

—— In this storyline, the Triforce appeared for the first time in a long time under the name "The Great Power." Recently in the Zelda series, the Triforce has been appearing less frequently.
Aonuma: This time, I was the one who said, "Let's bring out the Triforce."
Terada: That was because it became necessary. I felt that we had no choice but to bring out the Triforce in terms of the story.
Aonuma: The point I mentioned earlier about Link not being able to speak, it wouldn't have been possible unless the relationship between Zelda, Link, and Ganon surrounding the Triforce was based on the classic relationship between them all. We agreed that this would have to end up being a story that concentrates on getting the Triforce. However, there was a concern that if we said "a story about the Triforce," people would imagine the same storyline as always with the Triforce, since the mental image of the Triforce that we have been describing is too strong.
So, we dared to blur the time period in which the story takes place, and instead of a situation in which the king and the royal family know about the Triforce, we chose an era in which the word "Triforce" has itself been forgotten, and only vague legends of some "great power" lying somewhere in this world exist. That is why I dared not to write out "Triforce" in this game. But, as you can see, the Triforce appears in the game in ways that anyone would recognize (laughs). But I hope that when people finally see it, they will think, "I knew it!"
—— I see. For fans of the series, when the Triforce appeared this time, they were happy. But after hearing your story, I feel like I've played right into the hands of the fans (laughs).
Aonuma: No, no, in a sense, we played into its hands.
—— To the Triforce?
Aonuma: Yeah, to some "great power" (laughs).
