The Creation of the Land and Sky
Before time began and before spirits and life existed, the universe was in chaos. The three Golden Goddesses descended upon the chaos and began the creation of the world, each of them creating a different facet of the realm. Din created the material realm, Nayru gave the realm law and order, and Farore created all life forms that would follow the said order.
With their labors completed, the Goddesses departed for the heavens, but not before leaving behind the Triforce, three sacred golden triangles representing a small portion of the essence of the goddesses. Because the power of the Triforce was so great, they trusted the sacred relic to the careful hands of the goddess Hylia so that she could protect it from those who would misuse its almighty power. Hylia was also entrusted with the care of the Secret Stones. Since Hylia herself was a goddess, the Triforce was in safe hands, as only mortals would be able to use its power. The Goddesses entrusted the protection of the land they created to Hylia.[1]. In addition to the Triforce, each goddess left behind a crest[2].. The crests have proliferated throughout time with different groups and species adopting individual crests as their own.

The Creation Myth
Before time began, before spirits and life existed... Three golden goddesses descended upon the chaos that was Hyrule... Din, the goddess of power... Nayru, the goddess of wisdom... Farore, the goddess of courage.... Din...With her strong flaming arms, she cultivated the land and created the red earth. Nayru... Poured her wisdom onto the earth and gave the spirit of law to the world. Farore...With her rich soul, produced all life forms who would uphold the law. The three great goddesses, their labors completed, departed for the heavens. And golden sacred triangles remained at the point where the goddess left the world. Since then, the sacred triangles have become the basis of our world’s providence.
And, the resting place of the triangles has become the Sacred Realm[3].
The Breach of Demise
One dark, fateful day, the earth cracked wide and malevolent forces rushed forth from the fissure. They mounted a brutal assault upon the surface people, driving the land into deep despair... They burnt forests to ash, choked the land’s sweet springs, and murdered without hesitation. They did all this in their lust to take the ultimate power protected by Her Grace, the goddess. The power she guarded was without equal.
Handed down by gods of old, this power gave its holder the means to make any desire a reality. Such was the might of the ultimate power that the old ones placed it in the care of the goddess. To prevent this great power from falling into the hands of the evil swarming the lands. The goddess gathered the surviving humans on an outcropping of earth. She sent it skyward, beyond the reach of the demonic hordes. Beyond even the clouds. With the Hylians safe, the goddess joined forces with the land dwellers and fought the evil forces, sealing them away. At last, peace was restored to the surface.

The Ancient Battle
During the era of the goddess Hylia, many demons arose in pursuit of the Triforce. The leader, Demise, the Demon King, tried to take over the world with his evil powers. After a battle against the demonic forces, Hylia gathered the humans who had survived, along with the Triforce, onto a plot of land and sent it into the sky. She positioned a heavy barrier of clouds between the island in the sky and the land below to protect the humans and the Triforce. The goddess and the remaining tribes on the Surface battled for their lives against Demise. They were victorious, and they sealed him away[4].

The Goddess Hylia Renounces Her Divinity
The land was saved, but the seal that kept the Demon King imprisoned was weak. In an attempt to destroy Demise, the goddess Hylia tried to use the power of the Triforce. However, a goddess cannot wield its power. Thus, the goddess Hylia decided to renounce her divinity and be reborn as a human. With Hylia's passing, Impa of the Sheikah tribe was entrusted with watching over the sealed prison of the Demon King until she returned[5].

The Goddess Hylia's Reincarnation
As the seal of Demise, the Demon King, began to weaken, a human girl was born. That girl was named Zelda, and she was the goddess Hylia reincarnated.[7].
Zelda Regains Memories As Hylia
After her fall from the heavens, Zelda, now on the Surface, was rescued by an old woman. The old woman told Zelda that she was the reincarnation of Hylia and needed to cleanse herself in the temples of the sky and the earth. Understanding her destiny, and clothed in the garments of the goddess, Zelda set off for the Skyview and Earth springs. At the Earth Spring, Zelda was captured by Ghirahim's henchmen, the Bokoblins, but saved by Impa, of the Sheikah tribe, whose responsibility was to protect the reincarnated goddess.[8].
Zelda Returns to the Past
Zelda prayed at the two springs, purifying herself and regaining her memories as the goddess Hylia. In order to strengthen the seal that imprisoned the Demon King Demise, Zelda attempted to return to the ancient era from the Temple of Time in the desert. However, Ghirahim found her. Link showed up just in time. He fought with Ghirahim, protecting Zelda and Impa while they entered the Gate of Time. Upon entering, Impa destroyed the gate so that Ghirahim could not follow them to the ancient past.[9].
The Hero of the Sky Forges the Master Sword
The Goddess Sword was a divine weapon created by the goddess Hylia to aid the chosen hero in defeating the evil demonic forces led by Demise. Link, the hero chosen by destiny, retrieves the Goddess Sword from the Statue of the Goddess in Skyloft, which starts the long journey of forging the Goddess Sword into the Master Sword
In order for the Hero of the Sky to transform the Goddess Sword into the Master Sword, they must infuse it with three sacred flames, each guarded by a powerful spirit in different regions of the world. Once the sword has been imbued by the three Sacred Flames, the sword transforms into the Master Sword. After Zelda shares with the Hero of the Sky that she is the Goddess Reborn, she blesses the sword, unlocking its full potential as the True Master Sword.

The Hero of the Sky Destroys Demise with the Triforce
After returning to his own time, Link discovered the legendary Triforce. By completing numerous trials, he proved himself worthy of its immense power and received the crest of the Triforce. The Hero of the Sky Defeats Demise
Following the destruction of Demise via the Triforce, the enraged Ghirahim abducted Zelda and transported her through the Gate of Time. Once in the past, he carried out the ritual to bring the Demon King Demise back to life. Link pursued them, fighting and overcoming Ghirahim, but arrived too late as Demise had already been revived. Following a fierce battle, Link managed to defeat Demise. Upon his defeat, the Demon King's malice was absorbed into the Master Sword and sealed away. Consequently, the demons on the Surface ceased to terrorize its inhabitants[11].
A Return to the Surface
Zelda and the others returned to the present time. The atmosphere was peaceful and there was a feeling of a new beginning. Zelda resolved to live on the Surface and to protect the Triforce. However, the destruction of Demise was not the end of the battle. It was the beginning of a curse: a never-ending cycle of the reincarnation of the Demon King, whose hatred for those with the blood of the Goddess and the spirit of the Hero is everlasting.
