Summary

Sacred Trees are heavily connected to the Zonai way of life but the exact reason why is unclear. It is said that as the Zonai prospered, so too did the Sacred Trees. Rauru remarks that the Zonai held rituals at Sacred Trees and that the Temple of Time has taken on the purpose of those rituals. The details of the rituals are unknown. It would appear that the kingdom still carries out rituals at the Temple of Time, but it is unclear if these rituals are the same as mentioned by Rauru.

The lives of our people and this tree are interconnected. As we prospered, so too did it. It was the site for many of our rituals, and though that role has since been taken up by the Temple of Time, I am sure this sacred tree watches over us still.

Locations

Sacred Trees can be found across multiple different games in the series, but they are most commonly found in Tears of the Kingdom, primarily on Great Sky Island. It's speculated that the great tree found in Gloom's Origin was also a Sacred Tree that was corrupted by Gloom after Ganon was sealed and that if it was, the tree may have been essential in the construction of the temple above, referring to the Temple of Light ruins^{[citation needed]}.
